Attainment?

Helter Skelter

If we were to gauge our daily actions with emotional feelings what would be the outcome? In other words, if something made us unhappy we refused to be part of it. If another situation made us happy, we would work with it. For example, borrowing may make us miserable and result in long-term restrictions. Working to own our home will provide a sense of achievement. The consideration is this: If we decided to love and enjoy every facet of our life. If we train our minds to face reality and learn to become responsible for every action and choice. If we sought fact against deception, reality over illusion, how would our life change? If we used the emotion feeling of happiness, truth, and integrity to guide our lives, would we become free from problems?

Let us consider the idea that we become managers of our environment. What changes would we have to make? I suppose we would have to consider what a manager is before going further. A manager is someone who knows how to run the factory, office or store within certain limitations. If you wish to manage a home in the same way as these people, there would be changes to make. A good manager knows how to run the operation and the most vital piece of information is how much is the budget?

It is just adding up the monthly income and subtracting the monthly outgoings. Whatever remains can be saved or spent, the choice is the managers. Later, decisions are made to take on credit commitments, to purchase special needs. A good manager exchanges the word ‘credit’ for ‘debt.’ He controls outgoings and overheads. At this stage, choices will be made whether to live close to the edge with excessive spending or commit to saving and long term security. One way results in ongoing juggling and difficulty. The other is a way which dictates we endure hardships early to be comfortable later. Yes, there are good and bad managers, the difference is looking at the whole picture or hiding the severe problems.

No wonder politicians are in fear of truth. Because they all make the first choice, they overspend and borrow. The promise’s made at election time have to be paid for, and those who vote for unrealistic and expensive promises are contributing to long-term debt and heavily taxed hardship for their grand and great grandchildren. The lack of responsibility and greed from both voter and politician will perpetuate the long-term difficulties. You will be correct if you comment ‘There is nothing we can do about it.’ Truth to tell few of us believes anything of real benefit comes from politics. There is little chance of change in our society. People argue, fight and enter into war. A few are happy, most exist and die, preferring illusion.

Allow me to paraphrase the last paragraph:-

No wonder humans live in fear of truth. They choose to overspend and borrow to fill the debt. The promise’s we make to justify the debt are soon forgotten. And a weak mind which allows this debt contributes to its own misery. In the long term, this way of life affects the way our offspring live their life. The greed of our children allows them to love those who spoil them. Those who live within their means are ridiculed as fools and seen to be poor due to lack of visible wealth. There is little happiness in the way of those who live within an illusion. Millions sitting in front of TV screens, hypnotized by illusions, is a perfect way to stop people thinking for themselves.

Forget conspiracy theories; the majority or people are in self-destructing mode. Drugs and cures for illness? Best look for a reason for the disease. There is little responsibility for the problems which surround our environment. That is fine we have the freedom to do as we wish. Why fight against the odds? It is worth considering complacency as an option. Resistance will result in those holding an opposite view fighting their corner. People have to be fit to fight, and if there is no argument, the opposition becomes complacent. Tobacco cancer is now replaced with junk food cancer, diabetes, and obesity. The taxes earned from the junk food business is greater than tobacco. People work in the industry for pennies and live a borderline existence. Blame the establishment if you wish, remember, you have free choice to do as you like. No one forces you to self-poison, it is an easy option to blame others for your illness, poverty, and issues.

The idea of focussing upon one’s inner being. Finding peace within one’s personal environment. Working toward freedom from all forms of debt and living within one’s budget. These are real options. The ideas accompany an attitude of mind. A dedication which involves a fair degree of solitude. It is far from easy; the advertisers are adept as heroin at addicting the unwary. Those who wish to find peace (and honesty) are surrounded by double standards and deception. Dishonesty and deception are currencies of the establishment. Think carefully about those who are so called pillars of society. They are ships in a bottle of lies. If the majority of people see their deceptions as acceptable, there is no hope of making changes.

To counter this, any individual who works to control their lives. Takes the time to research real truths and exist within the knowledge of reality. Will see the futility of fighting against the illusion. And they become self-empowered and free to become content within their existence.

Of course, this essay is open to many counter arguments. It is worthy of 11000 words, not 1100. The astute reader will realise there are many spiritual parallels in the examples used in this article. What is a modern interpretation of the word spiritual? It could be understanding the issues which affect our lives and strengthening our resolve to live happily with what we have available to us. We have a lifetime available to us, and to squander the gift of being able to experience life is to live the life of a fool. The politician, industrialist, and media mogul controls the mind of the majority. There are some who desire to discover alternative ways to live.

It is not important to dress like a pantomime actor. Hope the universe will fill your pocket with gold. Follow the ideas of so-called gurus. All one has to do is reason with the truth. Accept the road to attainment sometimes seems long and arduous. See the love within happiness and integrity. We do not need a book or genii to show us a magical way. The magic is in our mind and within our actions.

The reader is left to consider this thought; if a man and woman unite and care for their family. Helps and guides their children how to find success in their lives. If they demonstrate living without debt, within truth and accepting the faults of those who surround them. What is the degree of their spiritual attainments?

  1. Hi Ian

I very much enjoyed reading your article “Attainment?” You echo so many of my views on life which have been formed through riding the peaks and troughs of success and failure. I think it may have been Socrates who quoted “he is the wealthiest who is contented with the least” it was Churchill who quoted “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give”.

    All the best Ian

    • No doubt in my mind ‘the less you need the more you receive’ on a personal level I have never had so many incredible friends and 14 years without ONE argument. Using the ideas of self ness. Thank you for your comment. I’m an emotional millionaire today 🌻🌻
